TEC REC CCR
Why CCR?
If you have decided you want to be (or already are) a Tec Diver then Closed Circuit Rebreathers will never be far from the conversation. Rebreathers have been around longer than open circuit SCUBA and have made a real surge into recreational technical diving over the last ten years.
Why are rebreathers so popular? In short it takes away the biggest limiting factor of any tec dive, gas volume. This allows tec divers to do the thing they want to - longer deeper dives. Why don't all tec divers use rebreathers? Rebreathers do have drawbacks - they require special training to use, are more complicated than OC so can pose a higher risk if not trained properly and are more expensive - but if you can accept these points they provide an opportunity to dive in a way and to places only a few people experience. |
